ANATOMY OF THE LINGAM (PENIS):

The penis consists of three fundamental structures, cylindrical in shape and highly elastic tissue. Two of them are the so-called cavernous bodies; the third is the spongy body, which surrounds the urethra.

The enlargement of the organ when excited is determined by the inflow of blood, which fills the cavernous bodies and the spongy body.

Glans

The spongy body, a vascularized cylinder that surrounds the penile urethra, forms the glans (head of the penis). The skin that surrounds it is called the foreskin. This skin is retractable, allowing the glans to be exposed when erect. Some men have narrowed the opening of the foreskin, which makes it impossible to pull it back over the penis glans and in some cases surgery is necessary

Erection of the penis.

Erectile tissue does not exist only in the penis. It also occurs in the mucosa around the vagina. In both cases, the stimulus for these regions to be filled with blood is usually the result of excitation.

Erection occurs independently of the will of man, through the action of nerves, relaxing the muscular layer of the corpora cavernosa and spongy body. At the same time, the dorsal vein of the penis is compressed, causing the blood drain to be reduced. The greater blood entry into the erectile tissues and the blockage of its exit determine the erection changes.
